The Douglas Mawson, named after the legendary Australian polar explorer, is one of the newest, built in 2025,  and most advanced expedition vessels sailing to Antarctica. Purpose-built for polar travel, it carries forward the innovation of its sister ships while offering a fresh level of comfort, sustainability, and adventure. Featuring the revolutionary X-Bow® hull design, the ship delivers smoother, quieter, and more fuel-efficient voyages—an especially welcome advantage when crossing the Drake Passage.

With capacity for just over 130 guests, the Douglas Mawson ensures an intimate small-ship experience. Its size allows faster Zodiac embarkations, giving passengers more time to step ashore and experience Antarctica’s glaciers, wildlife, and ice-strewn landscapes up close. Observation is at the heart of the design, with floor-to-ceiling windows, expansive viewing decks, and hydraulic platforms that extend outward for unbeatable perspectives of penguins, seals, and breaching whales.

Inside, 74 elegant staterooms—most with private balconies—offer a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration.
