Frequently Asked Questions

World Traveller is a purpose-built expedition ship with an ice-class-certified hull (Polar Category C, Ice Class 1B), which allows it to safely navigate icy waters. Its small size (fewer than 200 guests) ensures more flexible itineraries, quick embarkation/disembarkation for landings, and a more intimate, immersive experience.

Yes. All Zodiac landings, guided hikes, and expedition excursions are included in the cruise fare. These are led by an expert team of polar guides and naturalists. You’ll have multiple landings per day (weather permitting) to explore glaciers, wildlife habitats, and research stations.

Atlas provides a complimentary polar parka and waterproof boots for use during the cruise. You’ll need to bring moisture-wicking base layers, waterproof gloves, thermal socks, a warm hat, and quality outerwear. A packing list is usually provided upon booking.

Atlas Ocean Voyages welcomes travelers aged 8 and up on Antarctica expeditions. However, these cruises are best suited for mature travelers with a sense of adventure. There are no specific kids’ programs onboard.

There is no formal dress code. The onboard atmosphere is casual-luxury—elegant but relaxed. Layers are key, especially on deck. At dinner, smart-casual attire is typical.

Crossing the Drake Passage can be rough. The ship is equipped with stabilizers, and the crew provides advance warnings to help guests prepare. It’s advisable to bring seasickness medication or patches if you’re prone to motion sickness.

You should be in good health and able to climb into Zodiacs and walk on uneven terrain. However, you don’t need to be an athlete—excursions are tailored to different ability levels. Medical forms may be required pre-cruise.

Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance—specifically covering emergency evacuation from Antarctica—is mandatory for all guests. Proof of coverage is required before embarkation.
